Objectives of the National Office of Sanitation and Drainage of Côte d’Ivoire
Primarily, to provide populations with access to adequate sanitation, both in rural and urban areas.
Specifically, ONAD is responsible for ensuring access to sanitation by:
- Urban areas: By building rainwater collection infrastructure to prevent flooding and disposing of wastewater to improve the living environment.
- Peri-urban areas: By installing appropriate sanitation equipment.
- Rural areas: By eliminating the practice of open defecation.
